Set for June 21, July 26, and August 23, Baarish aims to reignite the emotional and sensory bond with the rains through a thoughtful fusion of sound, performance, visuals, and culinary experiences.
“Designed to encourage people to embrace the monsoon, the evening will feature a Megh Malhar invocation and a santoor performance. The palace will be animated with interactive installations, a monsoon-thali by Café Lota, and an engaging talk by art historian Eric Chopra on the monsoon in Indian art,” stated Minhal Hasan, Founder of Excurators.

Hasan emphasized that the event transcends mere celebration: “Baarish aims to document the season as experience, emotion, and memory – fostering an environment for conversation, reflection, and joyful recognition of rain.”
The experience commences at the entrance with an installation merging soundscapes, ambient visuals, and mist, crafted to immerse visitors in the essence of monsoon. The opening act will feature a musical collaboration by Ashim Berry, Lalit Kumar, Kumar Sarang, and Anant Raina, blending santoor, tabla, and vocals in a meditative tribute to the rains.
A key highlight of the event is an illustrated talk entitled “Moods of Megh – Monsoon in Indian Art,” presented by art historian Eric Chopra. Through medieval paintings like Abhisarika Nayika, Madhumadhavi Ragini, and evocative works by Manaku, Chopra will delve into the monsoon’s lasting role in Indian visual culture as a symbol of yearning, spiritual awakening, and poetic allure.

Another much-anticipated feature is The Baarish Ensemble, featuring Mooralala Marwada. His folk-inspired vocals will be reinterpreted by a contemporary group of musicians including Anirban Ghosh, Yusra Naqvi, Diyatom, Nikhil, Pranay, Subhankar, and Vaibhav. Their performance will create a rich auditory landscape that celebrates the spiritual and emotional dimensions of Marwada’s music.
The event will also offer a specially curated menu by Café Lota that highlights monsoon-inspired dishes showcasing regional ingredients and seasonal flavors. Each dish is crafted to evoke the warmth and nostalgia reminiscent of rain-drenched days.
With its multisensory approach, Baarish promises to be a celebration that intertwines memory and imagination, inviting audiences to rediscover the monsoon through culture, cuisine, and conversation.
