Luxury river cruise operator Antara Cruises has unveiled a collection of shorter, immersive itineraries tailored for Indian travellers. The company is enhancing its domestic offerings to meet the increasing demand for culturally enriching yet concise travel experiences.

Primarily favored by international tourists and long-haul guests, Antara Cruises is now revamping its itineraries to cater to Indian holidaymakers looking for long weekend getaways or culturally immersive shorter breaks.

Antara’s newly introduced routes, commencing in August and September 2025, promise a blend of nature, culture, and comfort – all in uniquely curated formats.

Creeks and crocodiles (2 nights/3 days | Departs 2 August 2025) | This journey takes guests through Bhitarkanika, India’s second-largest mangrove ecosystem, often referred to as the “mini-Amazon.” Departing from Gupti, a scenic riverside village approximately 3.5 hours from Bhubaneswar, guests can partake in a village walk, enjoy a traditional Odia dinner, and embark on a day-long cruise to Dangamal. Wildlife sightings may include estuarine crocodiles, deer, wild boars, Indian pythons, and various bird species, capped off with a visit to the forest’s Orientation Centre.

Mangrove Majesty (3 nights/4 days | Departs 4 August 2025) | For those desiring a deeper exploration of Bhitarkanika National Park, this extended version includes a journey to Habali Kathi. Highlights involve guided nature walks, tranquil river passages, and close encounters with the region’s unique wildlife.

Kolkata to Mayapur – Upstream (3 nights/4 days | Departs 15 September 2025) | This serene cruise along the Hooghly River features cultural stops at Bandel and Kalna. Guests will tour notable sites such as the historic Hooghly Imambara and the Rajbari Temple Complex before reaching the ISKCON global headquarters in Mayapur.

Mayapur to Kolkata – Downstream (3 nights/4 days | Departs 18 September 2025) | The return journey starts at the revered ISKCON temple in Mayapur, proceeding to Guptipara, known for its rice fields and Himsagar mangoes. Passengers will experience traditional Vaishnav terracotta temples and handloom weaving in Fulia before moving on to the colonial towns of Chandernagore (French) and Serampore (Danish).
