This year, Maido secured the top spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. Asador Etxebarri, in Spain’s Basque region, retained its second place, followed by Quintonil in Mexico City, DiverXO in Madrid, and Alchemist in Copenhagen, completing the top five. Maido, Lima: This Nikkei restaurant, led by chef Mitsuharu Tsumura, has taken the crown in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 list. Renowned for its fine dining experience, Maido features an ever-evolving menu of over ten courses. The restaurant’s name is derived from a Japanese greeting phrase. Tsumura emphasized the importance of human sustainability in the industry, stating, “I believe this industry can demonstrate how food can unite people.”

Asador Etxebarri, Atxondo, Spain: This celebrated Basque eatery maintains its second-place ranking this year. Nestled in a picturesque Basque village surrounded by mountains and verdant landscapes, it serves as a must-visit for food lovers. Chef Bittor Arguinzoniz’s culinary creations allure gourmet enthusiasts from around the globe.
Quintonil, Mexico City: This standout Mexican restaurant earned third place by focusing on fresh, local ingredients combined with traditional Mexican flavors and techniques in innovative dishes.
DiverXO, Madrid: Known for its avant-garde flavors, this Spanish restaurant ranked fourth. Set in the Eurobuilding Hotel on Padre Damián Street 23, it opened its doors in 2007.
Alchemist, Copenhagen: Alchemist achieved the fifth position. Located in Refshaleøen, a more secluded area of Copenhagen, this Danish restaurant is led by Rasmus Munk.

Gaggan, Bangkok: This establishment has been named the 6th in the world and the Best Restaurant in Asia 2025. Housed in a charming colonial-style villa, the iconic restaurant is run by chef Gaggan Anand.
Sézanne, Tokyo: Opened in July 2021 on the seventh floor of the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi, Sézanne is ranked seventh on the list. Its neo-French cuisine is expertly crafted by British Chef Daniel Calvert.
