A large segment of Indian consumers is leveraging credit card rewards to organize and finance their travels, as highlighted in the recent Global Travel Trends Report by American Express. The findings reveal that 86% of Indians deem travel rewards significant when planning their upcoming trips. Approximately 82% intend to utilize credit card points for travel costs, while 77% accumulate these points throughout the year exclusively for travel purposes.

Furthermore, 81% of Indian respondents are employing credit card points to cover dining and local activities. Nearly 84% expressed that redeeming points for travel bookings feels rewarding in itself.

Many Indians are integrating multiple loyalty programs to maximize benefits. About 84% believe that combining card rewards with loyalty programs enhances value for international travel. Two-thirds of Indians choose their travel destinations based on where they can effectively utilize their points.

Booking intentions are also linked to points accumulation. Approximately 64% plan to schedule their vacations in 2025 contingent upon earning a certain quantity of loyalty or credit card points.

The report additionally emphasizes other emerging trends. Around 65% of Indians transfer points across various cards to enhance their rewards. Nearly 50% connect their cards to dining services, while 35% link them to ride-sharing apps to maximize travel advantages.

Streaming services are incorporated into the rewards strategy as well, with 43% of Indians linking their cards to platforms like Netflix to boost point acquisition.

In summary, 77% of Indians primarily use credit cards for daily expenses, reflecting a broader shift towards reward-focused financial behaviors.
