This new line will offer Mira-Bhayandar residents improved access to various Metro corridors in Mumbai.
Upon inspecting the line, he stated, “Metro services are expected to commence on the Dahisar-Kashimira route by the end of December, which will be a joyous occasion for the residents of Mira-Bhayandar,” PTI reported.
Sarnaik confirmed that the final approval is dependent on regulatory checks and that it requires the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety’s certification.
“We anticipate that by the end of December, the route will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar,” he added. The Dahisar-Kashimira Metro line will be extended to the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Ground by December 2026.
Sarnaik reminisced about his promise to bring metro connectivity to the area in 2009, noting that the project is finally coming to fruition.
He mentioned, “Back in 2009, when I was elected as the area’s representative, I shared the vision of a metro with the citizens. At that time, many established leaders ridiculed my announcement. But after 14 years of relentless efforts, that vision is finally materializing.”
The minister attributed the acceleration of the project to the BJP-Shiv Sena coalition government, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde. “In the New Year, Mira-Bhayandar residents will benefit from convenient metro access to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, the Mantralaya, and the Vidhan Bhavan in South Mumbai,” he mentioned.
He also expressed hope for the expanding metro network in the region, including the upcoming Vasai-Virar Metro line. “In the upcoming years, commuters will be able to travel from Vasai–Virar to Andheri and further to Colaba via the airport interchange station,” he remarked, as quoted by Mid-Day.
