Sustainable tourism practices, safety regulations, and collaborative initiatives with the government are crucial for promoting the state as a leading adventure destination, stated the Adventure Tour Operators Association of Himachal Pradesh (ATOAHP) on Friday.

The ATOHP, which focuses on trekking and mountaineering, convened its annual general meeting in Manali, located in the Kullu district on Thursday, urging all stakeholders within the adventure tourism sector to unite in advocating for industry development.

The initiative aims to mitigate unregulated activities and ensure eco-friendly tourism, as noted in the statement.
Leading the meeting, association president Vishal Thakur emphasized their motto: ‘Conserve, Preserve, Sustain’.

“Himachal Pradesh, with its abundant and stunning trekking routes, has the potential to become a premier destination for trekking enthusiasts and mountaineers,” he remarked.

He also highlighted ATOAHP’s intention to collaborate with the government to realize the full potential of the adventure tourism sector and secure its sustainable future.

There are more than 30 significant treks spread across six districts in Himachal Pradesh, including Shimla, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Lahaul and Spiti.

During the meeting, discussions revolved around training initiatives, infrastructure enhancement, and strategies to improve visitor experiences while safeguarding the region’s natural heritage.
