Hailey Bieber Just Name-Dropped This Science-Backed Skin-Care Brand as Rhode Inspiration

Celebrity skin-care endorsements are one thing, but it’s far less common to hear a beauty founder openly name the brands that inspire their own line. That’s exactly what Hailey Bieber did during a recent TIME100 interview, when the Rhode founder gave an unexpected shoutout to one particularly science-driven skin-care brand: Plated Skin Science.

While discussing the high price of some skin-care products, Bieber admitted that certain formulas really are worth the splurge. When asked for an example, she named Plated Skin Science, calling the brand “very scientific” and “very innovative with their technology and exosomes.” She added that brands like Plated inspire the Rhode team because “it makes us want to push ourselves” and hold its own products to the same high standards.

What makes Plated Skin Science especially notable in the exosome category is that it helped bring the ingredient from doctors’ offices into at-home skin care. The brand uses platelet-derived exosomes—tiny signaling messengers involved in repair processes within the body—and has become known for developing shelf-stable formulas in a category where stability can be tricky. Notably, the company also has multiple published clinical studies tied to its platelet-exosome technology, including research exploring facial redness, post-procedure recovery and skin rejuvenation.

The NewBeauty team, too, is no stranger to Plated Skin Science. Its Eye Serum ($138) took home the title of Best Eye Serum as part of our 2026 NewBeauty Awards for how well it tackles dark circles, crow’s feet and overall firmness, while the Plated Intense Serum ($258) took home the award for Best Exosome Serum in 2025.

Experts, including New York dermatologist Rachel Westbay, MD, are especially fond of Plated Intense Serum. “It’s become my new favorite product this year, hands down,” she says. “I’ve been using it religiously for months, and my skin has never looked more glowy or healthier, and my sensitive skin took to it with no issue.”

The clinical data and peer-reviewed publications behind it are exceptional, and the results speak for themselves,” she continues, “from reducing redness and refining texture to softening fine lines and accelerating recovery. It’s truly the Swiss Army knife of skin care: a high-performance formula that addresses a broad range of patient concerns by providing anti-aging, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits all in one. It also integrates seamlessly into any regimen, so it doesn’t require you to throw out your favorite products.”

She ended her endorsement of the serum with: “I don’t want to go too far here, but the science is so solid, it may totally revolutionize our current perception of which skin-care staples are really needed—but sunscreen will always be a must!—because this product is such a multitasker.”
