A Step-by-Step Guide to Purchasing Delhi Metro Tickets Using the Rapido App A Step-by-Step Guide to Purchasing Delhi Metro Tickets Using the Rapido App
Delhi Metro tickets can now be purchased via the Rapido app, utilizing the government-supported Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform. This capability is part of Rapido’s collaboration with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

To purchase a metro ticket through Rapido, users should launch the app and navigate to the metro ticketing section. New users booking metro tickets via Rapido will receive a complimentary Rapido ride.

Rapido has also rolled out fixed-rate rides to and from selected metro stations in Delhi, with a fare of ₹25. The company has established designated pick-up and drop-off zones at these stations to enhance last-mile connectivity.
Here’s how to book a metro ticket on Rapido:

Launch the Rapido app on your device.

Access the metro ticketing section from the home page.

Choose your departure and arrival stations from the provided list.

Verify your journey details and move to payment.

Complete the payment using UPI to finalize your booking.

Receive a QR-based metro ticket within the app, which can be scanned at the metro gates.

Rapido Co-Founder Aravind Sanka mentioned that over 8 lakh users engage with the app daily, and roughly 1 lakh utilize it for rides to or from metro stations. He noted that 40% of Rapido’s riders are women.

This rollout comes after Uber’s initial introduction in Delhi, where it became the first platform to enable metro ticketing through ONDC in its app. Uber users can purchase QR-based tickets and access real-time metro updates via UPI. The feature is anticipated to expand to three additional Indian cities by 2025.

The ONDC partnership was formalized in 2024 during Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi’s visit to India. ONDC Acting CEO Vibhor Jain stated that such integrations will contribute to creating a more inclusive and digitally empowered mobility ecosystem in the nation.
