Among the affected routes, flights between Bengaluru and Singapore, Pune and Singapore, and Mumbai and Bagdogra have had 21 flights suspended until July 15.
In an official statement released on Sunday, June 22, Air India indicated that this decision aims to “enhance network-wide operational stability” and minimize the likelihood of last-minute disruptions for passengers. The airline noted that less than 5% of its narrow-body flights will be affected by this adjustment.
This marks the second reduction by Air India in recent days. On June 18, the airline reduced 48 weekly wide-body flights, resulting in a 15% decrease in international services. This action came as the airline commenced safety inspections and addressed broader operational challenges.
The recent cuts follow a tragic plane crash earlier this month, the most severe in decades, resulting in the loss of 241 out of 242 lives on board. While Air India has not directly attributed the reductions to this incident, the airline has reiterated its commitment to safety and operational reliability.
Two daily services to Singapore are part of the international routes that are currently suspended, and several domestic routes will experience reduced frequency.
The airline is reaching out to passengers booked on affected flights to make alternative arrangements.
