At the finale of the opening day of the four-day Calaveras County Fair, on May 15, a large crowd witnessed the crowning of the new Miss Calaveras, Averi Adams.
Adams, a 17-year-old junior at Calaveras High School, described her reaction to winning the pageant.
“I cried,” she said. “It was very emotional. I have worked hard for this, and I’m so happy with everything that I’ve experienced. I’ve learned so much, and this is just a wonderful thing that I absolutely recommend for every young lady to do.”
Also crowned were her court, Hannah Emerson, first princess; Skylar Narita, second princess; and Fathom Williamson, third princess.
For the second consecutive year, the pageant also included the crowning of a Miss Calaveras International. This year’s recipient of that honor was Goomaral Orlombayar, an exchange student from Mongolia.
