Because the U.S. doesn’t allow many of the newer UV filters used in Korea, the brand has had to rethink its sunscreen lineup for American shoppers. Its new Tinted Mineral Dayscreen SPF 30 ($20) is the latest evolution, combining FDA-approved non-nano zinc oxide with the skin-care-first philosophy that made Beauty of Joseon a global favorite. Here’s my honest review.

As someone who has tested more sunscreens than I can count, I’ve learned that finding a mineral sunscreen that checks every box is no easy feat. Too often, they look chalky, cling to dry patches or leave my skin looking one-dimensional. This new tinted SPF aims to change that by combining broad-spectrum UV protection with defense against visible light and the tone-evening benefits of a lightweight skin tint. The result sits somewhere between sunscreen, skin tint and everyday complexion enhancer, making it an easy way to streamline your morning routine.
Available in 15 flexible shades (I’m shade 29N), Tinted Mineral Dayscreen SPF 30 uses non-nano zinc oxide as its UV filter, making it an appealing option for those with sensitive skin (it was actually clinically tested on sensitive skin) or anyone who prefers a mineral sunscreen. The light-to-medium coverage is buildable and blurs the look of pores while letting your natural skin shine through. It also tones down my redness, which I appreciate. According to the brand’s clinical testing, the formula improved the appearance of skin evenness and pores for up to 12 hours.
What also sets it apart is Beauty of Joseon’s skin-care–first philosophy. The formula is infused with the brand’s proprietary Fermented Brown Rice, which helps hydrate, nourish and smooth the skin, along with ceramides to support the skin barrier. Adenosine and vitamin E add antioxidant and smoothing benefits, making it feel more like a multitasking complexion product than a traditional sunscreen. Unlike many tinted mineral SPFs that feel heavy or greasy by lunchtime (the worst), this formula feels comfortable on my skin all day. It also layers well under my SPF face mists when I’m outside and it’s time to reapply.
