Applications must be submitted by January 12, 2026, as stated by Infrastructure Development Minister M B Patil on Saturday.
According to the minister’s office, Patil noted that the state government has earmarked potential sites at Choodahalli and Somanahalli on Kanakapura Road, along with an additional site near Nelamangala, for the new airport.

A high-level team from the Airports Authority of India has inspected these sites and provided a preliminary report, he mentioned.
“The consultancy firm chosen through this tender process will be required to submit a comprehensive technical and financial feasibility report to the Government within five months,” he added.
The minister explained that firms must have completed projects worth at least Rs 250 crore annually over the last five years and have experience preparing or managing consultancy reports for a minimum of five projects in the relevant field to be eligible for the tender.
“The appointed consultancy firm will analyze various factors, including rainfall patterns, topography, power availability, water supply, sewerage and waste management infrastructure, local population, regional development, and potential noise pollution from airport operations at all three proposed locations,” he stated.

Patil emphasized that the feasibility report must also detail the estimated costs for developing the airport, the land area required, and any necessary approvals from multiple authorities, including the Ministry of Defence and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The report will evaluate the potential effects of the new airport on local industries, tourism, and public transportation in the area, he added.
Further, the consultancy firm will investigate the existing connectivity to the proposed sites and the infrastructure needed post-airport construction. Additionally, cargo handling and passenger services, along with their economic feasibility, will be assessed.
Based on a thorough evaluation of all three locations, the firm will provide recommendations on the most suitable site for the second airport, he explained.

Patil remarked that Kempegowda International Airport is currently the second busiest in the country based on passenger volume. The state will need another airport, prompting proactive efforts to get started early.
Once the feasibility report is submitted, the Government will determine the next steps, he concluded.
