Starting from November 13, 2025, the limited-time “One Rupee Ticket” campaign encourages everyone to experience fast, cashless public transportation, according to Member Secretary I Jeyakumar, CUMTA, in an official statement.
CUMTA serves as the government nodal agency for transport in Chennai, and the Chennai One app was launched by Chief Minister M K Stalin on September 22, 2025.
“Obtaining the ₹1 ticket is straightforward. Simply open or download Chennai One, select your travel destination, and complete the payment using either the BHIM Payments App or the Navi UPI app to access the ₹1 fare,” the statement explained.
The deal is valid solely for tickets that are used for travel and cannot be combined with other promotional offers.
This offer can be redeemed only once per registered Chennai One account for either bus, metro, or suburban train tickets throughout the campaign duration.
Users will be eligible for surprise cashbacks on subsequent transactions during the campaign. Complete terms are available within the app, as per the governmental authority on metropolitan transport as of November 12.
Moreover, the top official indicated that the commute app has resonated well with the residents of Chennai.
In the first month, Chennai One achieved 5.5 lakh registered users, 14 lakh journey searches, and 8.1 lakh tickets booked.
Commuters have praised the app’s sleek design, the convenience of a single QR code, and the comfort of planning, paying, and tracking an entire journey across bus, metro, suburban rail, autos, and cabs within one application.
“Designed with the user in mind, Chennai One reflects the city’s vision for quicker, safer, and greener mobility for every household in Chennai. Chennai One is revolutionizing how our city moves, and with this ₹1 fare offer, we invite everyone to discover seamless, digital-first travel across buses, metro, and suburban trains. Our objective is to make public transport the preferred choice for daily commuting while encouraging cashless payments,” remarked Jeyakumar.
