According to PTI, Gupta reported that the Prime Minister shared his vision for Delhi’s advancement, which she believes will bring renewed momentum and clarity to the city’s development agenda. She also emphasized her government’s efforts, stating that maintaining cleanliness is a top priority and enhancing Delhi’s green cover is a fundamental goal.
As part of this green initiative, she announced that 7 million (70 lakh) saplings will be planted this year under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign, which has already commenced. She further mentioned improvements in waste management through modern technological solutions, focusing more on recycling and waste-to-resource initiatives.
During their meeting, Gupta gifted the Prime Minister a National War Memorial souvenir and expressed her intention to bring school children to the memorial to foster patriotism and national pride. She also indicated that the general public would be encouraged to visit significant landmarks such as the Dr Ambedkar National Memorial and the Prime Ministers’ Museum.
To enhance awareness, she stated that dedicated campaigns will be initiated—both on-ground and via social media—to highlight the cultural and historical importance of these sites. “These places of historical significance should become new tourist hubs,” the statement attributed to Gupta reads. “They not only provide a chance to learn about our country’s history and culture but also nurture the spirit of national pride and patriotism.”
Gupta also expressed the gratitude of Delhi’s residents to the Prime Minister, acknowledging the Centre’s ongoing support in providing special assistance to the city. She noted that this support has been instrumental in reviving stalled infrastructure projects and ensuring the effective implementation of new initiatives aimed at the capital’s sustainable development.
