MeitY stated that the integration allows citizens to “securely access, store, share, and digitally verify” PVRs within the DigiLocker system, facilitating paperless and contactless service delivery.
How to access your passport verification record?
Once the police verification for a passport is finalized, the PVR is automatically generated and added to the individual’s DigiLocker account.
Users can access it from the “Issued Documents” section via either of the following:
- DigiLocker mobile app
- DigiLocker web portal
No additional request or application is necessary; the document will appear once verification is completed by the issuing system.
What DigiLocker provides?
DigiLocker is a cloud-based service under the Digital India initiative that enables citizens to store and access government-issued digital records such as Aadhaar, driving licenses, and academic certificates. It facilitates secure sharing and instant verification of documents without the need for physical copies.
Key benefits of having PVR on DigiLocker
- Individuals can view or download their PVR anytime, which is especially valuable for urgent travel planning, employment background checks, or compliance needs across various sectors.
- The PVR is generated directly by government systems and is safely stored within DigiLocker’s secure architecture, ensuring authenticity and protection against any alterations.
- Recruiters and travel agencies often request passport verification. A digital PVR allows for quick sharing of an official record, eliminating delays related to missing or outdated physical copies.
- Users can electronically share the document with authorized entities through DigiLocker’s consent-based system, reducing the need for attested photocopies or repeated uploads on multiple platforms.
