There will be limited exceptions for dissidents, independent journalists, and human rights advocates. “Initiating a war and expecting to travel freely in Europe is difficult to justify,” stated EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on X.
“The EU is tightening visa regulations for Russian nationals in light of ongoing drone issues and sabotage on European territory. Travel to the EU is a privilege, not an entitlement.”

In the meantime, Russian President Vladimir Putin has directed his senior officials to prepare proposals for a potential nuclear weapons test, the first since the Soviet Union’s collapse in 1991.
This order, which follows President Donald Trump’s announcement last week regarding the resumption of testing in the U.S., signals that the two nations with the largest nuclear arsenals are rapidly approaching a situation that could significantly heighten geopolitical tensions.
“I am instructing the Foreign Ministry, Defence Ministry, special services, and relevant civilian agencies to do everything possible to gather additional information on this matter, analyze it in the Security Council, and provide coordinated proposals for the potential initiation of nuclear weapons tests,” Putin stated in a televised address.
