This year’s global theme for International Yoga Day is “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” which connects the psychophysical practice with sustainability and the shared well-being of humanity. In honor of International Yoga Day 2025, let’s explore some events you can join to celebrate the essence of Yoga.
1. Yoga Sangam:
This year’s flagship event includes organized mass yoga sessions set to occur simultaneously at over one lakh locations throughout India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the central session from Visakhapatnam. Yoga Sangam is open to all, so you should be able to locate a venue near you offering these sessions. 2. Tourist Destinations: On June 21, the Union Ministry of Culture will host yoga sessions at 100 prominent “tourist-based” sites and 50 additional cultural locations across India to commemorate IDY 2025. Some UNESCO World Heritage sites included in this initiative are Charaideo Maidam (Assam), Hampi and Pattadakal (Karnataka), Rani Ki Vav & Dholavira (Gujarat), Khajuraho Group of Monuments and Sanchi Stupa (Madhya Pradesh), and the Konark Sun Temple (Odisha).
3. Indian Council Of Cultural Relations: Individuals of Indian origin living abroad can partake in IDY 2025 events organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, the cultural arm of India’s Ministry of External Affairs. According to an official statement quoted by news agency PTI, ICCR plans to conduct around 2,000 events across 1,300 locations in 191 countries. 4. Yoga Parks: As part of this initiative, public parks in rural Panchayats and urban municipalities will be transformed into yoga zones led by qualified instructors. These locations will also feature informational displays to aid in self-guided practice.

5. Yoga Samavesh: Acknowledging that the health needs of different demographics vary, this initiative includes specialized yoga modules for children, adolescents, pregnant women, seniors, and those with conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and mental health challenges.
6. Yoga Prabhav: This research-based initiative reviews the decade-long journey that began in 2014. Earlier on June 14, the findings were shared during Yoga Connect, a global summit that united leading yoga experts worldwide.
7. Yoga Unplugged: With a significant portion of the Indian population being under or around 30 years of age, it’s crucial to popularize this practice among them. Yoga Unplugged merges traditional practices with contemporary formats. This initiative includes youth festivals, workshops, and social media campaigns aimed at sparking interest in yoga.
