The Government of Goa is urging local taxi operators to participate in state-supported digital initiatives, such as the Goa Taxi App and GoaMiles, to enhance tourist transportation and create better livelihoods for drivers.

The Department of Tourism introduced the Goa Taxi App to establish a regulated, transparent, and efficient transportation framework for visitors. Officials emphasized that the app guarantees fair pricing, safety, and user-friendliness for both travelers and taxi operators.

Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, remarked, “The Goa Taxi App marks a significant move towards structured tourism and safer travel. We encourage all taxi operators to sign up for this complimentary, government-supported platform designed for their advantage.”

Since its debut at Manohar International Airport in January 2023 and at Margao Railway Station in October 2023, the app has enhanced services with features such as real-time tracking, government-regulated fares, Google Maps integration, and a variety of payment options.

Drivers using the app receive bookings based on their ratings, promoting professionalism and high-quality service, while convenience fees are reinvested into welfare programs that benefit taxi operators and their families.

GoaMiles’ ongoing support for tourism

The GoaMiles app, managed by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), has been integral to Goa’s tourism landscape since 2018, establishing the state as an affordable and responsible travel destination.

Both apps have facilitated over 70,000 rides and welcomed more than 1,000 drivers, ensuring regulated fares, enhanced service quality, and smooth travel experiences for tourists.

The Department of Tourism reaffirms its dedication to modernizing Goa’s transport infrastructure, making regulated, digital-friendly services a fundamental aspect of its sustainable tourism strategy.
