Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte announced on November 21 that the “exclusive” showcase will unveil Goa’s refreshed tourism vision, updated campaigns, and a variety of experiential offerings targeting international audiences. “This initiative seeks to reinforce Goa’s presence in the Southeast Asian market and foster meaningful partnerships with key travel trade stakeholders,” he stated.
Khaunte further noted that the state is striving to position itself as a premium global destination by embracing innovative ideas and sustainable practices. “Through this roadshow in Malaysia, we intend to present a revitalized version of Goa that celebrates our culture, enhances modern tourism trends, and aligns with our commitment to regenerative and responsible tourism,” he remarked.

In the meantime, Goa’s two-decade partnership with the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has helped transform the coastal state into a vibrant center for cinematic exchange, serving as a significant platform for national and local filmmakers.
During the inauguration of the festival’s 56th edition on Thursday, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant mentioned that IFFI has evolved alongside Goa since it was first hosted in the state in 2004.
IFFI, which has taken place in various regions of the country since its inception in 1952, was moved to Goa under the leadership of then chief minister Manohar Parrikar. The state became the festival’s permanent venue in 2014.
Sharmad Pai Raiturkar, a member of the executive council and general body of the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), reminisced about Parrikar’s efforts in bringing IFFI to the state and ensuring it became a regular feature on the country’s cultural calendar.
“IFFI is not only about films; it also serves as a platform to showcase language, culture, and cuisine. Goa has been able to present its uniqueness to the world through this festival,” he stated.
