Hilary Duff is having a full-circle moment. The singer and actress is back performing on stages across the country for her Lucky Me world tour—her first global headline tour in almost two decades, hitting major venues like Los Angeles’ Kia Forum, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater, and Madison Square Garden in New York City throughout the summer.
The star, now 38 and as stunning as ever, has put a fresh spin on her look, balancing nostalgia with her identity today. The tour supports her sixth studio album, Luck… Or Something, her first in over a decade, which she co-wrote with her husband, Matthew Koma. Behind the glam for the tour is celebrity makeup artist Taylor Healey, who told us exclusively about a few key products she uses to prep Duff’s skin for the stage.
Duff’s glam inspiration for tour
“We love incorporating a fun, sparkly eye that’s perfect for the stage and gives a nod to that Y2K nostalgia, while keeping the skin fresh and modern,” says Healey. “That balance feels very true to who Hilary is now.”
Duff’s tour skin prep
Before Healey gets to the glam she preps the star’s skin with essential skin-care steps. “I like to start out by exfoliating with the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant ($49) to buff away any dry patches, that way makeup can lie as smoothly as possible. Then I apply Dermalogica Smart Eye Density, the brand’s upcoming launch, to plump and hydrate the under eye—this is a crucial step before applying concealer,” Healey tells us.
Then she uses “Dermalogica Phyto Nature E2 ($158), an advanced daily leave-on treatment powered by next-generation plant-based exosomes, which creates a brighter complexion that enhances makeup’s natural finish and luminosity.” Healey finishes up skin prep with Dermalogica Pro-Collagen Banking Water Cream ($76), “which locks in hydration and keeps the makeup fresh and radiant through the performance.”
