Indian Railways Launches QR Code Complaint System for Catering Services in Chennai Indian Railways Launches QR Code Complaint System for Catering Services in Chennai
Indian Railways has launched a QR code-based grievance redressal system at catering stalls within the Chennai division. This pioneering initiative was introduced in partnership with RailMadad.

This cutting-edge system allows passengers to easily file complaints regarding hygiene and service issues, enabling authorities to respond to their concerns in a timely manner.

The system requires scanning a unique QR code located at catering stalls, which directs passengers to the RailMadad portal. Here, they can log in using their mobile number to report complaints related to overcharging, food quality, hygiene, and other matters.
This digital endeavor enhances feedback mechanisms for improved service and accountability in railway catering.

In a post on X, the Ministry stated, “In an effort to improve passenger convenience, Indian Railways has rolled out a first-of-its-kind QR code-based grievance redressal system at catering stalls in the Chennai division, in collaboration with RailMadad, facilitating swift complaint registration for hygiene and service issues.”

In addition, 24×7 Digi Locker facilities have been established at Ratnagiri (Maharashtra), Thivim (Goa), and Udupi (Karnataka) stations. These smart lockers offer a secure, self-service solution for passengers to store their luggage.

In another development, the Ministry of Railways has recently revealed a new fare structure that will come into effect on December 26.

Passengers will incur an additional 1 paisa per km in Ordinary Class for journeys exceeding 215 km, and 2 paisa per km in Mail/Express Non-AC and AC classes under the adjusted pricing system, as reported by The Economic Times. Ticket prices remain unchanged for travelers covering less than 215 kilometres.

Additionally, those traveling 500 kilometres in non-AC compartments will incur an extra 10.

However, fares for suburban services and Monthly Season Ticket (MST) holders will not see any increase. With this adjustment, the Railway anticipates a revenue boost of 600 crore.
