The airline recognized the extent of the disruption, stating, “IndiGo sincerely regrets that some of our customers travelling on December 3/4/5, 2025 experienced long delays at airports, severely impacting many due to congestion.” Passengers who faced significant hardships will receive the ₹10,000 vouchers, usable for any future IndiGo trip within the next 12 months.
The carrier clarified that these vouchers are in addition to the compensation required by existing government regulations, which entitle passengers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure to ₹5,000–₹10,000 based on flight duration.
According to DGCA norms, compensation is applicable when cancellations are due to reasons directly linked to the airline. No compensation is mandated if disruptions arise from extraordinary circumstances, including adverse weather, ATC restrictions, government orders, security concerns, natural calamities, political unrest, labor disputes, or other force majeure events.
