Jennie Garth Partners With IT Cosmetics, Reflects on Her ‘90210’ Style

For anyone who grew up watching Beverly Hills, 90210, Jennie Garth will forever be synonymous with enviable California cool-girl beauty. Today, the actress, designer and podcast host—best known for her role as Kelly Taylor—is redefining what that “glow” looks like in real life as she partners with IT Cosmetics for the brand’s newest campaign.

Garth’s latest must-have is the Do It All Sheer Tint Face Balm ($34), a 4-in-1 skin-transforming tint that delivers instant radiance while improving skin over time. Made with 92 percent skin-care ingredients and available in 15 shades exclusively at Ulta Beauty, the formula is tailored for women 40-plus who want makeup that works harder, feels comfortable and lets natural beauty shine through.

As the face of the campaign, the 53-year-old represents the confident woman entering her next chapter—one powered by a commitment to age-positive beauty. Garth recently sat down with us to share why this partnership felt like a natural fit, with a few ’90s nods along the way.

Congrats on this partnership. The brand is widely loved—have you been a longtime fan?

“Yes, I was an original fan of the brand when it started out! I think it started out to really cover skin imperfections, give you a flawless look. It covered up any redness. It was great for people with rosacea or any kind of blemishes or anything like that. The brand was something I was very excited to use on camera and in my day-to-day life, because it was a truly innovative product when it first came out. It’s so beautiful to see the brand evolve in such a gorgeous way. It is very authentic to its roots, but also embracing what’s next in makeup and skin care.

The fact that this Do It All Sheer Tint Face Balm is infused with 92 percent skin care is just what I want to hear! That’s what I want to use. I don’t want something that is covering up, or it’s too heavy anymore. I want my real skin that’s been through life’s ups and downs, I want that to shine through, but also give myself just that little bit of coverage.”

You wear makeup as part of your job, but in your day-to-day life, do you enjoy doing your own makeup?

“I love makeup! Doing other people’s makeup is one of my favorite things. It’s so creative. In the day-to-day, I don’t wear makeup unless I’m on camera, which happens a lot. I’d say I wear makeup pretty much five days a week, but I like it now that I can wear a lighter, more translucent skin makeup. It’s just so different from how it was in the ’90s, when it was all about covering everything up. This is now about letting your true beauty shine through.

I love that, as a woman at this stage in my life… you just reach a point where you have such acceptance of who you are, how you got here and all the things you’ve overcome. You really reach this place where you love yourself in a completely different way. This makeup and skin-care product really does embrace that messaging.”

The brand has a lot of must-haves. Is there one superhero or two that you really, really love?

“It used to be the CC+ Cream, now it’s the Do It All. It’s my favorite product I have tried in a very long time. I’ve been using it consistently, whether or not I’m on camera, because you can build it and powder down some of the glow for on-camera stuff, but in daily life, it just gives you this beautiful, plump, hydrated, alive look.”

We’re only a few weeks into January, but you already have a busy year ahead with your QVC appearances and your book. What are you most looking forward to right now?

“Oh my gosh. I’m excited for the synergy that’s happening in my life, the way everything that I wanted, everything on my vision board, has come to fruition in just a really natural way. I feel comfortable sharing my insights through my book. Yes, it’s part memoir, but it’s also sort of self-help, if you will, because I love teaching and sharing with people. I do that a lot on my podcast. I think the book is just a natural extension of the podcast and just the whole messaging of what I’ve created as this next chapter for myself.”

You often share moments with your daughters on social media, and it looks like you do a lot together. Have they held on to anything from the ’90s—fashion-wise?

Well, Fiona and I did a shoot for People magazine, and we used one of the dresses from Kelly Taylor. As soon as she saw the dress, she instantly stole it, so that’s not mine anymore. They’re always just borrowing all my clothes. It’s ridiculous. I have no boundaries!”

Are you enjoying the return of ’90s beauty trends, or are you happy to leave them in the past?

“The ’90s are the best, ever! I think every decade has fun beauty and fashion. I love the ’70s look with big, blown-out hair. I love the ’80s with the rocker hair and a lot of hairspray. All those looks are so just cemented in my memory—and so are good memories surrounding them—that I love anytime anything comes back from the past.”
