The ministry has approved the port authority’s funding, and tenders have been issued, with bids expected to close on December 29, 2025, according to the statement.
Spanning nearly 12 hectares of water area, the marina will be capable of accommodating 424 yachts of up to 30 meters in length.
The marine infrastructure will feature an approach trestle, a piled breakwater, service platforms, pontoons, and gangways designed to ensure safe and effective yacht operations.

The statement noted that the project is anticipated to create over 2,000 jobs in marina operations, cruise services, hospitality, and related sectors, while encouraging private sector involvement in coastal infrastructure.
It also aims to enhance public access to the waterfront and bolster Mumbai’s status as a significant hub for maritime tourism and cruise traffic.
Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, remarked that the project will establish world-class infrastructure, open the waterfront for public access, stimulate private investment, and create new job opportunities.
