Declaring that Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district, Odisha, will soon become the ‘gateway’ to eastern India, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated on Tuesday that the port city will feature a greenfield airport, a cruise terminal, and will develop into a hub for green hydrogen.

Majhi made these remarks during the inauguration of the Kalinga Bali Jatra at Paradip, which celebrates the ancient maritime heritage of Odisha, symbolizing the bravery of Odia sailors and traders.

“This festival serves as a reminder of our ancestors who navigated the tumultuous seas and forged trade and cultural ties with various nations by sailing their ships to distant lands,” he expressed.

“Paradip is set to evolve into a green hydrogen hub and will feature a cruise terminal. This terminal is to be constructed along the Mangala River, turning Paradip into a tourism hotspot, with the state government allocating Rs 500 crore for the project,” Majhi revealed, further stating that an airport will soon follow for the port city.

The Chief Minister noted that Paradip Port has become a vital facility for India, serving as a center for industry, trade, and employment.

“Our government is committed to the comprehensive development of Paradip alongside its port. Initiatives include establishing a greenfield airport, developing a megacity that encompasses Bhubaneswar-Khurda-Jatni-Cuttack-Paradip and Puri, creating industrial corridors, and enhancing Paradip beach for tourism growth,” he added.

Odisha’s Industries and Skill Development Minister Sampada Chandra, Jagatsinghpur MP Bibhu Prasad Tarai, and Chairman of Paradip Port Authority P L Harnadha were present at the event.
