According to PTI, 97 flights were cancelled, which included 48 arrivals and 49 departures, due to low visibility that hampered aircraft movement. Additionally, over 200 flights experienced delays, with departing flights averaging a delay of around 23 minutes, as reported by flight tracking website Flightradar24.
In spite of the disruptions, the airport operator Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) claimed that operations were proceeding without major issues. In a midday post on X, DIAL assured that the situation at the airport remained stable. DIAL oversees Indira Gandhi International Airport, the busiest airport in the nation, which manages approximately 1,300 flights each day.

Earlier in the morning, Delhi airport had also issued a travel advisory at 8 am, affirming that flight operations were functioning smoothly. Passengers were encouraged to keep in contact with their airlines for the latest updates regarding flight schedules and any operational adjustments.

In the meantime, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued a statement on Sunday, alerting passengers that foggy conditions in parts of northern India are hampering visibility and could potentially lead to delays or alterations in flight operations at certain airports.
As reported by ANI, the AAI recommended that travelers verify flight updates with their airlines through official channels and factor in extra time for travel to the airport and completing necessary formalities. To support passengers amid the adverse weather, AAI has deployed assistance teams at affected airports to provide on-ground support and guidance.
AAI emphasized that passenger safety and convenience are their top priorities and shared customer support contact numbers for major airlines to help travelers access timely flight information.

Separately, IndiGo released a travel advisory late on December 20, cautioning that early-morning fog across Delhi and parts of northern India could lead to sudden visibility drops and impact flight operations.
The airline assured that its teams would remain on high alert through the night, monitoring weather conditions continuously. Passengers were advised to check flight statuses before departing for the airport and consider rebooking or requesting refunds if their flights were affected.
