The Uttar Pradesh government is set to promote the state’s tourism and investment opportunities at the upcoming Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Travel Mart, taking place in Bangkok from August 26 to 28. As a significant international tourism platform, PATA assists tourist boards in attracting global visitors. According to a statement from the UP government, this initiative aims to “enhance the tourism potential and economy of the state to new heights”.

The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department will establish a pavilion to showcase “its cultural, spiritual, and historical wealth”. Notable destinations being highlighted at PATA include Sarnath, Kushinagar, and Shravasti as part of the Buddhist Circuit, along with sacred sites like Varanasi, Ayodhya, and the Prayagraj Mahakumbh location.

The pavilion will feature an interactive navigation panel offering dynamic visuals of the state’s iconic attractions. A special Augmented Reality feature will enable visitors to capture selfies with digital backgrounds representing six key locations in the state.

In addition to promoting tourism, the stall will showcase the region’s traditional crafts in line with the Centre’s One District One Product initiative. Attendees will also experience the architectural and spiritual heritage of ancient temples through engaging visual presentations.

Simultaneously, the Yogi Adityanath-led government will organize a one-day roadshow in Bangkok, targeting over 100 participants, including travel agents, media representatives, and tourism influencers.

To boost visibility, Uttar Pradesh plans to air 30-second tourism advertisements during prime-time hours for three days on three major Thai television and radio stations.

“Additionally, 10 key locations in Bangkok, including airports, metro stations, malls, and bus terminals, will display promotions 15 times a day over three days. Two mainstream magazines and two travel-related publications will also partner in promoting UP’s tourism sector,” the statement noted.

The promotional campaign will be supported by slogans like “Uttar Pradesh: The Land Where Lord Buddha Lived and Preached” and “Begin Your Bodhi Journey in Uttar Pradesh,” appealing to both travelers and potential investors.

Participation in PATA Travel Mart forms part of the state’s larger strategy to establish itself as a leading global tourism destination, officials stated.
