Western Railway has inaugurated its first digital lounge and co-working space, which became active earlier this week at the Mumbai Central railway station, officials announced on December 18. This lounge spans 1,712 square feet and offers comfortable seating, modular workstations, dedicated conference and meeting rooms, as well as video conferencing areas for railway passengers, PTI reported.

“The digital lounge is designed to serve business travelers, professionals, and remote workers, responding to the changing needs of today’s passengers,” stated Vineet Abhishek, chief public relations officer of Western Railway.

Situated at the main line concourse of the Mumbai Central station, the digital lounge is projected to generate around 3.2 crore in revenue over a five-year span, aiding in non-fare revenue initiatives.
Western Railway officials mentioned that the digital lounge is managed by Ten 11 Hospitality LLP under its premium brand INEJ Lounge, introducing professional hospitality services into the railway environment.
In conversation with PTI, Anurag Gill of Ten 11 Hospitality noted that plans to establish more digital lounges at key railway stations on Western Railway and potentially at several suburban railway stations are currently being considered.

According to railway officials, the digital lounge boasts modern amenities including high-speed Wi-Fi, multiple charging points, comfortable seating arrangements, modular workstations, dedicated conference and meeting rooms, versatile spaces for video conferencing, self-service light refreshments, and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as upgraded toilet and washroom facilities.

This facility is crafted to offer a practical and convenient workspace for passengers who need essential office amenities, meeting spaces, or a tranquil work environment while traveling.

To access the digital lounge, passengers will incur a fee of 200 for the first hour and 150 for each additional hour.

For extra charges, passengers can enjoy vegetarian meals and shower facilities. The company has also introduced value packs for lounge access, meal options, and shower services.

At the Mumbai Central station, railway authorities have also provided budget stay PODs, in addition to a regular AC lounge at a nominal fee of 10, where passengers can charge their devices or purchase refreshments.
