IndiGo will provide travel vouchers amounting to ₹10,000 to passengers who were stranded for extended periods at airports on December 3, 4, and 5, the airline announced on Thursday (December 11). This is in addition to the government-mandated compensation ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹10,000, depending on the cancellation’s block time.

In its statement, the airline mentioned, “Our primary focus remains the well-being of our customers. Following the operational disruption, we have made sure that all necessary refunds for cancelled flights have been processed, and most of these have already appeared in your accounts, with the rest forthcoming shortly.”

IndiGo indicated that passengers who booked through travel partner platforms will also be eligible for refunds but acknowledged that it may not have comprehensive information about all customers. Affected travelers have been advised to reach out to customer.experience@goindigo.in for support.

The airline recognized the extent of the disruption, stating, “IndiGo sincerely regrets that some of our customers travelling on December 3/4/5, 2025 experienced long delays at airports, severely impacting many due to congestion.” Passengers who faced significant hardships will receive the ₹10,000 vouchers, usable for any future IndiGo trip within the next 12 months.

The carrier clarified that these vouchers are in addition to the compensation required by existing government regulations, which entitle passengers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure to ₹5,000–₹10,000 based on flight duration.

According to DGCA norms, compensation is applicable when cancellations are due to reasons directly linked to the airline. No compensation is mandated if disruptions arise from extraordinary circumstances, including adverse weather, ATC restrictions, government orders, security concerns, natural calamities, political unrest, labor disputes, or other force majeure events.
