“#Indigo flight chaos at #pune #Airport. Shame on @IndiGo6E for no passenger information at the boarding gate, no staff present—citizens left to manage themselves. Even worse is that the display board shows flights on schedule,” a user tweeted.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has raised concerns regarding IndiGo Airlines’ operational turmoil, highlighting the significant passenger distress and labeling it a “shame”.
She stated, “IndiGo Airlines’ operations have been severely disrupted, causing immense passenger distress. I have consistently voiced my concerns regarding the duopoly in the aviation sector, leading to increased airfares, inadequate infrastructure, and frequent flight cancellations. This is disgraceful, and I urge the aviation minister to make a suo motu statement in Parliament.”

In an official statement, the airline attributed the disruptions to various factors, including minor technical issues, adjustments to winter schedules, adverse weather conditions, heavy congestion at airports, and updated crew rostering regulations, as reported by News18.
“A range of unforeseen operational challenges, including minor technology glitches, seasonal schedule changes, adverse weather, increased congestion, and the new crew rostering rules (Flight Duty Time Limitations), have adversely impacted our operations in ways that were not foreseeable,” the airline explained.
IndiGo is making carefully planned adjustments to its schedules over the next 48 hours to restore stability, providing affected passengers with alternate flight options or refunds.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated an investigation into the extensive disruptions and instructed IndiGo to present relevant facts along with plans for managing ongoing delays and cancellations.
“The DGCA is currently examining the situation and considering measures in collaboration with the airline to reduce cancellations and delays while minimizing passenger inconvenience. IndiGo has been asked to report to DGCA Headquarters with details on factors leading to the current situation and plans to alleviate the ongoing issues,” the DGCA mentioned.
According to the aviation regulator, IndiGo cancelled 1,232 flights in November, with 755 attributed to the implementation of new Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules introduced on November 1. The airline’s punctuality rate dropped to 67.7% in November, down from 84.1% in October, according to the DGCA.
