This moderate rise is part of the UK government’s initiative to establish a more “streamlined, digital immigration system”.
According to officials, the increased fees are intended to sustain a secure and efficient visa process.
The commission has clarified there is no limit on applications, and most visas will still be processed within three weeks, providing reassurance amidst the fee increase.
| New UK Visa Fee | |||
| S.No. | Visa Category | Old fee | New fee |
| 1 | Visit Visa (Up to 6 months) | £127 | £135 |
| 2 | Visit Visa (Up to 2 years) | £475 | £506 |
| 3 | Visit Visa (Up to 5 years) | £848 | £903 |
| 4 | Visit Visa (Up to 10 years) | £1059 | £1128 |
| 5 | Study Visa | £524 | £558 |
| 6 | Work Visa (Skilled workers, up to 3 years) | £769 | £819 |
For travellers, this results in increased initial costs.
A standard six-month visitor visa will now be priced at £135, up from £127. Long-term visitor visas, preferred by frequent travellers and families, will also reflect these increases, with the 10-year visa now costing £1128.
Students, a significant portion of applicants from India, will now face a fee of £558 for a study visa, raised from £524.
Similarly, skilled professionals seeking work visas (for up to three years) will see a fee increase to £819 from £769.
While these hikes may seem modest individually, they contribute to the overall costs of relocating or travelling abroad—particularly when considering living expenses, tuition fees, or relocation costs. For students and families, this might necessitate tighter budgeting or a reevaluation of timelines.
The UK government asserts that these adjustments are essential for enhancing service delivery and accommodating rising global demand.
Applicants are encouraged to review the updated guidelines and the complete fee schedule on the government website prior to applying.
