Delhi Metro Launches Hydrogen Shuttle Bus Services Today: Details on Route, Fares, and Schedule Delhi Metro Launches Hydrogen Shuttle Bus Services Today: Details on Route, Fares, and Schedule
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has revealed the introduction of hydrogen-powered shuttle bus services in the Central Vista area of the national capital, designed to enhance last-mile connectivity and advance cleaner urban mobility.

This service, created in partnership with the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs and the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, is set to commence on Friday, May 15.

As per DMRC, the shuttle buses will link the Central Secretariat and Seva Teerth Metro stations with essential government offices and sites in the Central Vista region, including Kartavya Bhawan, Vigyan Bhawan, Nirman Bhawan, Akbar Road, Baroda House, National Stadium, the National Gallery of Modern Art, India Gate, and Seva Teerth Metro Station.
The initiative utilizes two hydrogen fuel cell buses provided by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). Each bus accommodates 35 passengers and is outfitted with GPS tracking and CCTV systems for monitoring, safety, and route management.

The buses will be in service on weekdays from Monday to Friday, excluding gazetted holidays, during two peak-hour periods—8:30 am to 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm. They will operate at intervals of 30 minutes, with one bus moving clockwise and the other counter-clockwise along the specified route.

Travelers can pay fares using National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC), UPI, or cash. Ticket prices are set at ₹10 and ₹15, depending on the distance.

DMRC will oversee operations, ticketing, and passenger services, while IOCL will supply drivers and hydrogen fuel.

The corporation stated that this initiative aims to promote the use of public transport, decrease reliance on private vehicles, and facilitate the adoption of cleaner energy technologies in urban transport.
