Travelers exhibiting symptoms of the virus are urged to promptly notify airport health officials for screening.
The notification, titled “Notice: Passengers arriving from or transiting through affected nations,” targets individuals traveling directly from Ebola-affected countries or those who have transited through these regions en route to India.

This advisory follows a high-level meeting convened by the Union Health Ministry with states to assess India’s readiness in response to the Ebola outbreak reported in parts of Africa.
“Passengers who have come from countries where Ebola is present and are showing any symptoms must take immediate steps,” stated the advisory. Symptoms highlighted include fever, weakness or fatigue, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained bleeding, or sore throat.
Additionally, travelers who have had direct contact with blood or body fluids of individuals suspected or confirmed to have Ebola should report to airport health officials or the health desk prior to immigration clearance.
The advisory further mentions, “Any traveler developing symptoms within 21 days of arrival should immediately seek medical attention and inform healthcare authorities about their travel history.”
Officials confirmed that no Ebola cases have been identified in India so far, but surveillance at airports has been augmented as a precautionary measure.
“We ask for your cooperation with health screenings and public health measures for the safety of all passengers and compliance with International Health Regulations (IHR),” read the advisory.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP), “As of May 19, a total of 536 suspected cases, 105 probable cases, 34 confirmed cases, and 134 suspected deaths have been reported by the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda.”
In the last 24 to 48 hours, there have been 26 new confirmed cases and 143 new suspected cases.
