This initiative broadens the application of UPI in the UAE from merely physical merchant transactions to include online travel bookings. Since 2022, UPI-enabled payments have been operational within NEOPAY’s merchant network in the UAE via QR-based acceptance.

The partnership also enhances the uptake of UPI in global markets. NIPL, the international branch of NPCI, has been actively pursuing the expansion of UPI acceptance in various countries, enabling Indian travelers to utilize the real-time payment system outside of India.
