Flying to or from Dubai? Everything You Need to Know About Refunds and Rescheduling Flying to or from Dubai? Everything You Need to Know About Refunds and Rescheduling
Air travel to and from Dubai and other West Asian cities has been disrupted following the US and Israel’s unilateral declaration of war on Iran, along with Tehran’s subsequent response, resulting in the closure of regional airspace.

Leading airlines, including IndiGo, Etihad Airways, Air India, and Emirates, have issued advisories offering refunds, free rescheduling, and flexible rebooking options for affected passengers.

India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has extended the suspension of several international flights that traverse the affected airspace and is providing complete flexibility and waiver benefits for travelers headed to and from the Middle East, as reported by The Economic Times.
The airline shared a travel advisory on X (formerly Twitter), stating that customers who booked on or before February 28, 2026, for travel through March 7, 2026, will qualify for free rescheduling or a full refund.

Although specific routes were not mentioned, the airline indicated that the waivers would also apply to various other disrupted international sectors.

“Should your booking be impacted, timely notifications will be sent to your registered contact details, and our teams will reach out to you directly to assist you in exploring available options,” the IndiGo travel advisory states.

The airline asserted that it had “thoroughly assessed the evolving regional dynamics and their potential influence on flight operations” before deciding on what it deems to be the ‘most responsible’ course of action for the sake of safety.

The temporary suspension of certain international flights traversing parts of West Asian airspace has been prolonged as part of IndiGo’s precautionary measures. Passengers can choose between a full refund or free trip rescheduling on the airline’s official website.

The disruption followed the assassination of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a joint US-Israeli operation, resulting in a fierce response from Tehran. More than 100 international flights were cancelled at Delhi IGIA amid escalating tensions, with Mumbai reporting 125 cancellations, according to The Times of India.

Other airlines issue travel advisories

In addition to IndiGo, various other major airlines have issued travel advisories in light of the ongoing war. Furthermore, airspace in the UAE, Israel, Qatar, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman has been closed.

In a travel advisory posted on X, Air India announced the suspension of flights to and from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Qatar until March 2. Approximately 125 international flights were cancelled, and it was noted that flights to North America and Europe would take alternate routes with technical stops in Rome. Passengers were encouraged to check online for updates.

Akasa Air has also suspended flights to and from Abu Dhabi, Doha, Jeddah, Kuwait, and Riyadh until March 2. The airline is offering impacted passengers options for free rescheduling or full refunds. “Travelers with affected bookings until March 7, 2026, can opt for a full refund or reschedule their travel at no extra cost,” their statement indicated.

SpiceJet has cancelled all flights on March 1 and March 2, 2026, between India and the UAE. Their travel advisory on X stated, “Due to the temporary closure of UAE airspace amid the current situation, all SpiceJet flights operating between India and the UAE have been cancelled until March 1, 2026.”

The airline advised passengers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.

The UAE government has officially announced it will cover all accommodation, meal, and rebooking expenses for approximately 20,000 stranded passengers. This initiative, as stated by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), aims to support passengers affected by rescheduled or cancelled flights, according to a report from TOI.
