Paris is set to reimagine its most iconic bridge into a remarkable spectacle. From June 6 to June 28, 2026, renowned French street artist JR will present La Caverne du Pont Neuf — an extraordinary walkable cave that wraps around the Pont Neuf, the city’s oldest bridge dating back to 1607. This installation spans 120 meters in length, 20 meters in width, and, at certain points, reaches a height of up to 18 meters, marking it as the first of its kind in the world at this scale. Guests will find themselves surrounded by soundscapes and augmented reality, along with optical illusions, inflatable forms, and striking lighting that transforms the bridge into a temporary “mineral fault.” Image source: REUTERS/Benoit Tessier

This initiative honors the iconic “The Pont-Neuf Wrapped” by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, created 40 years ago, signaling a significant new phase in Paris’s legacy of transformative public art. The artist, often referred to as the “French Banksy,” has previously made waves by gluing colossal faces on the walls of Gaza, draping the Palais Garnier in dancers suspended 30 meters in the air, and obscuring the Louvre pyramid.

One of the most thrilling opportunities for visitors: entry is entirely free, requiring no reservations, open 24/7. While the bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic, it will remain accessible on foot, by bicycle, from adjacent quays, nearby bridges, the Seine, or riverboats.
