The advisory, released through the Embassy’s official account on X, indicated that the update was prompted by a recent surge in instability and conflict within Iran.

- For those planning travel: Indian citizens who plan to visit Iran for any reason are advised to delay their travel plans until the security situation stabilizes.
- For those currently in Iran: Indian nationals already in Iran are encouraged to consider leaving the country temporarily using available flight options.
- For those choosing to stay: Citizens opting to remain should exercise extreme caution and keep abreast of news updates to stay fully informed. They are advised to avoid areas with active military presence, especially along Iran’s southern coast, and must adhere strictly to directives given by local authorities.
- Registration: Indian nationals in Iran who have not yet registered with the Embassy are urged to do so promptly and to regularly check the Embassy’s website and social media accounts for further updates.
This advisory is issued in the context of rising tensions between Iran and the United States throughout West Asia, with the US consistently targeting Iranian infrastructure, including bridges, desalination facilities, and military sites.
In response, Iran has conducted strikes against US bases in the region, with Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates reporting the majority of these incidents.
Additionally, India’s maritime authority had previously cautioned against sending Indian seafarers on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The United Nations reported last month that at least 14 seafarers had died in attacks in and around the strait, although the figures were not broken down by nationality. Of the confirmed cases, Indian crew members comprised the largest number of fatalities, with 9 out of the total 14.
