Seventeen metro stations in central Delhi were shut down for the third day in a row on Friday due to safety concerns related to the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) demonstration near Jantar Mantar.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that the 17 stations — Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, and Jhandewalan — will remain closed from 7.30 am until further notice due to security precautions.

Interchange facilities will still be operational at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat stations, according to the statement.
These 17 stations were also closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

The station closures have led to disruptions for office workers, students, and other travelers.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) filed a petition in the Supreme Court, stating that the closure of multiple metro stations hindered access for lawyers and litigants trying to reach the court.
