In an effort to improve access to the upcoming Jewar airport, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh inaugurated 45 new electric buses on Friday, June 12. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity between Noida, Greater Noida, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area, and Noida International Airport at Jewar.

This will provide passengers with a cleaner, safer, and more convenient transportation option, aligning with the state’s green mobility objectives.

In addition to the electric buses, the Chief Minister also opened a new bus depot in Noida, which will serve as a crucial hub for the electric bus network’s expansion.
During the launch event, CM Yogi Adityanath stated, “EV buses will commence operations by June 15, and we aim to deploy 500 EV buses based on the demand for post-flight services at Jewar Noida International Airport.”
The Chief Minister mentioned that two electric bus manufacturing plants, operated by Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland, have been established in Uttar Pradesh. He also revealed that three hydrogen-powered buses will be provided by the Yamuna Authority.

According to officials, a total of 100 electric buses, including 10 double-decker buses, are ready to operate from the Sector 90 bus depot. These buses are designed for intercity travel and are anticipated to link essential residential, commercial, and transport hubs throughout Noida and Greater Noida.

Several of these routes will head to Jewar airport, while other buses will connect vital locations such as Botanical Garden, Sector-62, Greater Noida West, Surajpur, and Pari Chowk. Moreover, transport links will extend to Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, and ISBT.

Long-distance routes have also been established to connect rural and urban regions within the Yamuna Authority area.

An advanced charging infrastructure has been implemented at the depot to support the fleet. High-speed chargers, which can fully charge buses in roughly two hours, will ensure efficient operations.

The Noida Authority and Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will collaborate to manage the service. Officials believe that the buses will be especially beneficial for residents of Greater Noida West, where public transportation options were previously limited.
