Delhi Metro Service Update: Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat Resume Operations; Three Stations Remain Closed

20 July 2026, 1 min read
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reinstated interchange facilities and reopened the gates at Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat metro stations, facilitating commuter access after a temporary closure earlier today.

Janpath, Patel Chowk, and Seva Teerth metro stations remain shut for security reasons and will stay closed until further notice.

In a statement on X, the DMRC announced, “The interchange facilities and gates are now available at Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat metro stations.”

Previously, five metro stations, including Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, and Seva Teerth, were closed due to security-related issues. While the metro authority did not specify the nature of the security concern, it confirmed that the stations would remain closed until further instructions were provided.

“Due to security reasons, Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, and Seva Teerth metro stations have been closed until further instructions,” DMRC had posted on X.

With this latest announcement, passengers can once again access Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat for entry, exit, and interchange, while operations at the other three stations remain halted.

Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and consider using alternative stations or transport methods when necessary. Further updates on the reopening of the remaining stations are expected.

On Sunday, the Delhi Metro also reported a temporary disruption on the Yellow Line due to a ‘passenger on track’ at INA metro station. Train services experienced delays for a period before normal operations resumed. The metro operator later confirmed that services on the Yellow Line had returned to standard procedures.
