Delhi Set to Introduce Four Sustainable Tourism Routes: Everything You Need to Know

To broaden the perspective of capital tourism beyond mere historical sites, the Delhi government is preparing to unveil four new environmentally friendly tourism circuits that showcase the city’s spirituality, culture, and hidden heritage.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will officially launch these curated routes on August 11 at the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple. The initiative seeks to extend Delhi’s travel offerings beyond renowned landmarks such as the Red Fort, Purana Qila, Humayun’s Tomb, and India Gate, providing organized routes that interlink central places of worship and heritage areas throughout the city.

The new circuits emphasize enduring spiritual centers often overlooked in typical tour packages. Noteworthy sites included in the initiative feature Gurudwara Rakab Ganj, Gurudwara Sri Bangla Sahib, Jhandewalan Temple, Chhatarpur Temple, Yogmaya Temple, historic Jain temples, and ancient churches.

The four designated circuits outline specific multi-religious and heritage stops throughout the capital:

Circuit 1: Bangla Sahib, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Agrasen ki Baoli, Lotus Temple, and Akshardham.

Circuit 2: Birla Mandir, Jhandewalan, Jantar Mantar, Jagannath Temple, and Yogmaya Temple.

Circuit 3: Hanuman Mandir, Jain Lal Mandir, Ambedkar Memorial, Purana Qila, and Nizamuddin Dargah.

Circuit 4: Rakab Ganj Sahib, Buddha Temple, Church of Redemption, Mehrauli Archaeological Park, and Chhatarpur Temple.

According to the Chief Minister, these curated routes aim to offer visitors an environmentally sustainable, low-carbon way to explore the capital while promoting longer stays.

Along with the August 11 launch, the state government will facilitate an interactive consultation with tourism stakeholders, including hotel operators, tour guides, and restaurant proprietors, to strategize on operational methods and visitor support. On August 12, social media influencers and travel content creators are invited to experience the new routes to aid in digital promotion.
