“Honeymoon Coach” Controversy: Employees Suspended and Investigation Launched Following Viral Video of Nandigram Express Decorations

9 July 2026, 2 min read
Following the viral video showcasing the Nandigram Express’s First AC cabin transformed into a honeymoon suite, a railway employee has been suspended, and a departmental inquiry is underway.

On Wednesday, the South Central Railway (SCR) disclosed that the private decorator involved has been charged under relevant statutes for unauthorized access to the coach.

According to a statement from SCR on X (formerly Twitter), a couple traveling on Train No. 11002 Nandigram Express on July 6, 2026, enlisted a private decorator through an online platform to embellish their First AC coupe. Investigations revealed that the decorator entered the coach at Jalna station without prior permission, which has been deemed a “serious lapse” in railway protocol.
Claiming that stringent measures have been enacted regarding the situation, SCR noted, “The staff member in question has been suspended, and a comprehensive departmental inquiry has been initiated. Actions will be determined based on the inquiry outcomes.”

Furthermore, Central Railway indicated that the private decorator has also been penalized under relevant provisions of the Railway Act for unauthorized entry, traveling without a valid ticket, and trespassing.

It was reported that Chief Ticket Inspector Girish Kumar was on duty during this incident, as per NDTV.

What was in the video?

The controversy regarding the honeymoon arose when social media users circulated clips of the lavishly decorated coupe, which featured balloons, floral arrangements, rose petals, and “I Love You” signs, sparking concerns over passenger safety and security on a moving train.

The now-famous video, initially shared by Maharashtra-based event company Rahat Room Decoration, illustrated the transformation of the First AC cabin on Train No. 110002 Nandigram Express into a romantic venue for a newlywed couple from Jalna.

The decorators mentioned that the couple drove from Aurangabad to Jalna, while their team entered the train earlier to set up the compartment before the couple boarded the Chennai-bound express at Jalna station.

The footage depicted the coupe embellished with red-and-white balloons draping the ceiling, floral garlands, bouquets, scattered rose petals, LED lights, and a prominent display that read “I Love You.”

The lower berth showcased a heart-shaped floral arrangement on fresh white linens, while the entrance boasted a pink beaded curtain with heart-shaped cutouts.

Although the initial Instagram post has been removed, the video remains widely shared across various social media platforms.
