On June 11, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that Indian Railways plans to unveil a revamped IRCTC website by July 15, addressing concerns raised by students regarding challenges in booking train tickets.

This announcement was made during an event in Rajasthan, where many students highlighted problems with the existing ticket-booking system, such as issues with CAPTCHA verification and the overall user experience.

As reported by ANI, one student expressed frustration over the difficulties posed by the CAPTCHA system while booking tickets. In response to this feedback, Vaishnaw inquired if railway officials could launch a new platform within 30 days, confirming that the updated website would indeed be available by July 15.
Although the Railways Ministry has not specified the features of the upgraded site, this initiative indicates a commitment to enhancing the digital ticket-booking process for travelers. The IRCTC website is the primary online portal for railway ticket bookings and manages millions of transactions every day.

The forthcoming upgrade is set against the backdrop of rising demand for a more seamless and efficient online booking experience, particularly during high-demand periods such as Tatkal reservations and festive travel seasons. Users have frequently reported problems like slow website performance and authentication challenges during peak times.

The minister’s remarks highlight the importance of passenger feedback in driving enhancements to railway digital services. More information regarding the website’s features, interface modifications, and technical upgrades is expected to be released as the launch date approaches.

This announcement occurred during Vaishnaw’s visit to Rajasthan, where he revealed several technology and infrastructure projects. Among these was the establishment of an Advanced Quantum Computing and Quantum Communications Lab at the Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) in Jaipur, part of a Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology initiative focused on quantum technologies.

Additionally, the minister virtually launched a 20 KW Akashvani FM transmitter in Ramgarh, Jaisalmer, aimed at enhancing radio service coverage in the border areas of Rajasthan.
