Special Trains
The Northern Railway will augment and operate additional trains to accommodate pilgrim traffic heading to Haridwar and Rishikesh. The Delhi-Saharanpur MEMU service will operate until Haridwar from July 30 to August 14. Departing Delhi at 4:15 pm, it will reach Saharanpur by 8:50 pm, pause for 20 minutes, and arrive in Haridwar at 10:50 pm. For the return trip, the train will leave Haridwar at 2 am, reaching Delhi by 8:45 am.
Shamli DEMU Extended, Special Mela Trains
The Delhi-Shamli DEMU will extend its route to Haridwar from July 30 to August 14, stopping at Shamli, Thana Bhawan, Rampur Maniharan, and Tapri. Return services will travel from Haridwar through Jwalapur, Roorkee, Tapri, Rampur Maniharan, and Shamli.
Additionally, the Railways will operate two fair specials: Haridwar–Delhi Shahdara from July 30 to August 13 and Yoganagari Rishikesh–Delhi Shahdara from July 30 to August 14, aimed at facilitating travel for Kanwar pilgrims.
Haryana Roadways Prepares For Pilgrim Surge
Currently, traffic bound for Haridwar is normal, with two Haryana Roadways buses running daily from Ballabhgarh. The first bus departs at 5:30 am and the second at 8 pm. Return journeys are scheduled for 11:30 am the same day and 7:30 am the following day from Haridwar. The fare remains ₹385 per passenger, with additional services planned as passenger numbers increase during peak Kanwar days.
Heavy Vehicles Banned In Ghaziabad Till Aug 12
Ghaziabad Police have instituted traffic restrictions for the Kanwar season. From July 29 to August 12, trucks, DCMs, tractor-trolleys, and other heavy vehicles are prohibited from entering the city. Vehicles from Delhi, Baghpat, Hapur, and Bulandshahr will be rerouted via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, NH-09, and the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. This ban extends to the Ganga Canal Track, Kanwar Marg, Pipeline Marg, NH-34, and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.
Vehicle Restrictions Imposed Near Dudheshwarnath Temple
Two-wheelers and light vehicles will be restricted near Dudheshwarnath Temple from Chaudhary Mod, Railway Road Cut, Bajariya, Hapur Tiraha, and Gaushala Gate owing to the anticipated heavy foot traffic. Green corridors will be established to ensure a smooth passage for ambulances and fire services.
Delhi–Haridwar Highway To Be Closed For All Vehicles From Aug 4
Reports indicate that heavy vehicle restrictions on the Delhi-Haridwar NH and Ganga Canal Road will commence on July 30. A total vehicle ban will be in place from August 4 to August 12 for Kanwar safety, with one part of the highway designated exclusively for pilgrims.
Delhi-Meerut Expressway To Shut From Aug 7 To 12
The UP section of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway will be closed to traffic from August 7 until Shivratri on August 12 for the Kanwar Yatra.
Travelers from Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad heading toward Meerut, Haridwar, or Muzaffarnagar are advised to explore alternative routes.
Month-Long Traffic Curbs In Mirzapur For Sawan
From July 31 to August 28, Mirzapur will impose restrictions on heavy vehicles, allowing only those carrying essentials like milk, fuel, and school supplies. Diversions will be enforced at nine critical points, including Robertsganj Tiraha, Madihan, Bharuhana Chowki, and Shastri Bridge, to assist Kanwariyas in moving easily.
