“There were no injuries as the local train was unoccupied at the time of the incident,” a spokesperson from Central Railway stated.
The derailment occurred at 8:09 am while the train was en route from the Kalwa car shed to Kalyan, he mentioned.
At least three local train services were delayed as a result of the incident, the spokesperson noted.
The derailment happened on the main line of Central Railway’s Mumbai suburban network, which links Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus with Thane and Raigad districts.
“The empty Kalyan local derailed on platform number 1 at Dombivli. One coach of the unoccupied local rake coming from Kalwa Car Shed to Kalyan derailed near Dombivali station at 8:09. Three local trains in the up direction are delayed for movement.”
“There were no injuries to any passengers as the local train was empty.”
Central Railway announced that there was “No service in the Down local line between Kopar and Kalyan.”
