Netflix and the Ministry of Tourism Unveil New Section on the Incredible India Website

6 August 2026, 1 min read
Netflix, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, has introduced a new section on the Incredible India website dedicated to highlighting real locations and cultural experiences showcased in Netflix films and series.

The “As Seen on Netflix” section was officially launched in New Delhi on Thursday (August 6) as a result of the partnership between Netflix India and the Ministry of Tourism.

This initiative will offer insights into destinations, traditions, and experiences depicted in Netflix content.

The launch coincides with Netflix’s 10-year milestone of operations in India.

Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos and Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat addressed the impact of entertainment content on travel preferences and the promotion of cultural destinations.

This collaboration follows a memorandum of understanding established last year between Netflix India and the Ministry of Tourism. As part of this partnership, videos highlighting India’s wildlife and cultural heritage were showcased at ITB Berlin earlier this year and have been utilized by Indian missions abroad to promote tourism.

Films and series as tourism touchpoints

The new section will consolidate information on locations highlighted in Netflix productions along with tourism-related insights.

Shekhawat remarked that storytelling can illuminate India’s heritage, destinations, and traditions on a global scale while bolstering the country’s creative ecosystem.

Sarandos noted that stories rooted in diverse regions of India have captivated audiences worldwide over the last decade and can inspire viewers to explore the cultures and places depicted on screen.

Since its launch in India in 2016, Netflix has produced and distributed a variety of Indian content across multiple languages and genres. Titles such as The Elephant Whisperers, Amar Singh Chamkila, and Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar have showcased India’s wildlife, musical traditions, and historical landscapes.
