Advance registration for the annual Amarnath Yatra has officially commenced as of Wednesday, April 15, enabling devotees throughout India to secure their permits for this sacred journey.

To facilitate a seamless process, authorities have set up both online and offline registration options, with services available at 554 designated bank branches across the nation.

Yatra dates announced
The 57-day pilgrimage to the sacred Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir is set to begin on July 3 and end on August 28, aligning with the Raksha Bandhan festival. This yatra, dedicated to Lord Shiva, draws lakhs of devotees annually from across India and abroad.

Online and offline registration options

Pilgrims can register via the official website of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) or visit authorized bank branches. This year’s process has been made more efficient to minimize wait times and enhance convenience.

According to SASB, each designated bank branch has a fixed daily quota for each route and must ensure registrations do not exceed the permitted limit for the

Amarnath Yatra 2026.

Safety measures and eligibility criteria

Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha, the chair of the shrine board, announced that participants must be aged between 13 and 70 years. He also stated several new safety measures have been implemented, including mandatory RFID cards, expanded insurance coverage up to ₹10 lakh, and improved infrastructure such as wider paths and better connectivity.

“With improved facilities, real-time monitoring, enhanced sanitation, and better connectivity, the yatra experience has significantly advanced. Devotees provide more positive feedback regarding the arrangements compared to prior years,” LG Sinha mentioned, according to ANI.

Registration process

As per the guidelines from the shrine board, devotees must first obtain a Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) from authorized medical institutions. Applicants then need to complete the registration form, select their preferred route and travel date, and submit valid identification proof. A yatra permit will be issued upon successful registration, which is essential for undertaking the pilgrimage.

“Advance registration is available at 554 bank branches. Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, and Yes Bank have various branches nationwide where this registration will be carried out. Online registration can also be completed via the official website of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board,” he added.
