With large crowds expected for the final, the railways have stepped in to provide convenient travel solutions for fans heading to the venue.
Special trains for cricket enthusiasts
To accommodate the increased travel demand before the final, the Western Railway has announced the launch of several special superfast trains. The initiative is designed to enhance connectivity for cricket fans planning to attend the exciting match.
Numerous special trains will operate from Saturday night through Sunday morning, ensuring supporters reach Ahmedabad in time for the match. Routes include Bandra Terminus–Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and Ahmedabad–Pune. These trains will have special fares and are expected to handle the anticipated influx of passengers traveling for the final.
This announcement was shared via the Western Railway’s official social media account, highlighting the decision to meet the travel needs of thousands of fans traveling to Ahmedabad for the event.
Bookings are now officially open for these trains at all PRS counters and on the IRCTC website.

To manage the influx of fans and counter rising airfares, the following trains are being introduced:
1) Train No. 09029/09030 Bandra Terminus – Ahmedabad AC Superfast Special
09029: Departs Bandra on March 8 (Sun) at 00:05; arrives at Ahmedabad at 08:40.
09030: Departs Ahmedabad on March 9 (Mon) at 03:20; arrives at Bandra at 11:35.
2) Train No. 09043/09044 Bandra Terminus – Ahmedabad AC Superfast Special
09043: Departs Bandra on March 9 (Mon) at 14:30; arrives at Ahmedabad at 22:55.
09044: Departs Ahmedabad on March 9 (Mon) at 03:50; arrives at Bandra at 12:15.
3) Train No. 01154/01153 Ahmedabad – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Superfast AC Special
01153: Departs CSMT on March 7 (Sat) at 22:05; arrives at Ahmedabad at 06:40 (Sun).
01154: Departs Ahmedabad on March 9 (Mon) at 04:00; arrives at CSMT at 12:55.
4) Train No. 01418/01417 Ahmedabad – Pune Superfast Special
01417: Departs Pune on March 7 (Sat) at 17:30; arrives at Ahmedabad at 05:30 (Sun).
01418: Departs Ahmedabad on March 9 (Mon) at 02:00; arrives at Pune at 12:10.
Request from Railway Committee Member
The decision to run these additional services was prompted by a request from Rajiv Singal, a member of the Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee. He stated that he personally approached the Divisional Railway Manager of Western Railway to arrange for extra trains.
“Yesterday, I met with Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Pankaj Singh of Western Railway, requesting him to operate two special trains from Mumbai to Ahmedabad on Saturday night and two special trains on Sunday morning for the T20 World Cup final in Ahmedabad. I am grateful for his prompt action,” he was quoted as saying by Mid-Day.
