This initiative arrives as Metro services in Indore and Bhopal experience ridership levels below expectations.
Through the ‘Celebrations on Wheels’ program, Metro coaches and designated station areas will be available for a range of creative and social activities, following stipulated fees and safety guidelines, MPMRCL announced on Tuesday.
“The Celebrations on Wheels program has been initiated with the vibrant cultures of Indore and Bhopal in mind, as well as the swiftly evolving urban landscape and the changing lifestyles of residents,” stated MPMRCL Managing Director S Krishna Chaitanya.
“This effort aims to integrate the Metro into the lives of the public, providing a safe and modern setting for celebrating their significant moments. This will solidify Metro services as a vital element of daily life for residents,” he added.
Under this program, filming, web series production, documentaries, advertisements, birthday parties, kitty gatherings, pre-wedding photography, cinematography, and other creative endeavors will be authorized on the Metro, officials indicated.
The charges for this service are set at ₹5,000 per hour for an undecorated stationary Metro coach and ₹7,000 per hour for an undecorated mobile coach, they noted.
A maximum of 50 individuals will be allowed for birthday parties, pre-wedding shoots, and kitty gatherings, with any extra attendees subject to MPMRCL fare regulations, according to officials.
The concerned individual must also provide a refundable security deposit of ₹20,000 for each coach during booking, which will be returned post-event, provided that the rules are adhered to, they added.
