The portal named ’Shumali Kashmir’ (North Kashmir), along with the North Kashmir Tourism magazine, has been conceived, designed, published, and hosted by the Indian Army, they noted.
These initiatives seek to bolster the region’s digital visibility, facilitate access to tourism-related information, and exhibit the rich cultural, historical, and natural heritage of North Kashmir to a broader audience, they explained.
The newly introduced portal and magazine emphasize the varied tourism opportunities present in destinations throughout Kupwara, Karnah, Keran, Machhal, Lolab, Gurez, and other picturesque locations in North Kashmir.

”They are anticipated to be valuable resources for tourists, travel operators, and tourism stakeholders, contributing to the advancement of sustainable tourism and local livelihoods,” officials stated.
The launch event gathered key stakeholders from the tourism sector, local entrepreneurs, government representatives, and community members, all sharing the common goal of enhancing and promoting tourism throughout North Kashmir, they noted.
As part of the event, dedicated exhibition stalls showcased products and enterprises developed through various initiatives supported by the Indian Army.
The exhibition spotlighted the entrepreneurial spirit of local communities, offering opportunities for self-help groups and entrepreneurs to connect with government agencies, tourism stakeholders, and potential partners, officials added.
